In Herefordshire where I live we have 2 bins one for everyday rubbish and one for recycling, we have weekly collections of bins one week it is everyday rubbish the next week is recycling. We are lucky we have a large garden so we are able to put things like used tea bags, egg shells, fruit peelings etc into a small compost bin, this lives in the utility, it has a lid, there is a lift out section where we put the compost stuff, my husband takes the composting stuff to the compost heap when the bin is full, it isn’t a big thing so it gets emptied sometimes once a day or every other day. Once the bin has been emptied it gets disinfected ready to use again, we most certainly have not had any infestations.
