We didnt always go to the beach for the sunshine

A lovely photo Lilian Flack nee Beatie gave me 20+ years ago of her in-laws at the beach.
Sometimes those generations went to the seaside just to get away from the smoke & pollution in our Towns and take in some fresh sea air.
Can you remember the black sandstone churches that smoke & pollution caused? That same air was being breathed in by those generations.
