I remember living in Tyne St in the forties and fifties when the Mathews family had a electrical shop in Lyon st next door to the Gas Workers club the father and son actually built a black and white TV of a sort when in 1953 when the Oueens coronation was televised (black /white)mr Mathews rigged his telly in the shop window us kids were in ore of what we saw it was so strange to see some thing that was actually happening that was moving there and then live it was an exsperince l never for got to this day. Happy days.
