That's right Liz, a Common Market, free of tarrifs between countries, and standards for goods (then the bent or straight banana's started)
It was never considered that they would have a highly expensive "governing body" and that the EU government would have TWO seats; Brussels AND Strasbourg, and would move the whole lot, back & forth, every six months.
And they would fund ridiculously expensive programes: A school on a Greek Island for 200 pupils. The TOTAL population, is only about 150, over half of which are adult. And in Ireland, they have more motorways than you can shake a stick at, mostly empty... the waste goes on and on...
