Certainly a loss of jobs in the ship building industry on the Tyne but for me job opportunities have opened up for young people in fields which did not exist in the times depicted in this photo. IT , renewable energy, commerce and many more industries have evolved in the past 25 years or so. I know it doesn't help the industrial heritage of the Tyne but it does look a lot healthier and cleaner than in days gone by.
