Know him well. He grew up on Lukes Lane estate and attended Clegwell with me when we were school age. He was a good lad as a youngster, well into his swimming and boxing.Has done well for himself and I hope he brings some much needed good management to our NHS.

Sounds like a down to earth person, I believe this is not a confirmed appointment as yet, hopefully he will be confirmed soon and not interim.

Now a confirmed appointment.
I know nothing about him except that he was born in Hebburn. I hope that that means that he has and can apply common sense.
He is picking up the parlous state of the NHS from the useless Amanda Pritchard. Good luck in turning around a moribund institution.

PS There are some great people in the NHS trying their best to deliver care whilst being thwarted by woke management and who wouldn't have a job in the private sector.

Absolutely John.
Having spent the last three years negotiating Healthcare Facilities for the Parish with local NHS ICB's (they deal with spend and commissioning of services) I am astonished at how good they are at procrastination and blocking. The new man needs to sort those out pronto. They are huge in senior personnel terms (and the associated costs)
We won and are to be blessed with an "all singing all dancing centre" but the facility will now take about 6-8 more years to put in place.

The big question is will he be allowed to do his job, maybe blocking at a lot of levels.

In answer to your question Allan, NO he will not, as politics is like that, but if he's cleaver enough he will have his team and good work arounds, so time will tell.
