council Tax

Just received details of this years Council Tax, think they are taking the mickey, Police up 7.7% , when was the last time you saw a Police Officer other than whizzing bye in a car ? South Tyneside Council, Roads like Roller Coasters, Councillors who do not return phone calls or emails, Officers who are incapable of effective communication’s, letters and emails ignored, phones not answered, formal complaint procedure ignored, absolute waste of space !

More money paid in council tax for a service that does not improve, I guess they need the money to pay for the asylum seekers!!!

It seems to me that this Government have ‘open season’ on pensioners for whatever reason, guess they want us gone so that there is no further requirement to pay pensions and the like!!!

We got ours this morning, £11.00 extra per month, over £3,000 per annum now.

I think "fat cats" springs to mind. Let's get rid of the over 65's who've built this country and let's use their money to support the illegal immigrants. Why the "h" is starmer and his crew doing this? Why don't they target the people who rip off the system instead of the people who have paid taxes,vat and Ni?

Probably because he doesn’t care as the majority of those people are not Labour voters, also one if the current advisors to Labour thinks ‘wealthy’ pensioners should be stripped of their pension.

Carole, I thought ours was bad, that is dreadful. I feel bad for complaining now. I must admit, I complain every year, then pay it. It makes me feel better😀I must be one of the few who will not sign up to direct debit.

Gosh I wouldn’t have a clue GB. I suppose recently everything is more expensive ie weekly food shopping. I have my food shopping delivered each week, so I don’t compare prices , but my daughter constantly tells me how cheaper different produce are in different supermarkets.

Sheila, that was a silly question of mine. I just looked the cost of running a house not including repairs grocery etc in the NE.,size of roughly 600 sq ft seme house, taxes, heat , water etc repairs not included South Shieds area, costs all over the map. Seems some parts of Scotland are cheaper. When I figure mine out next month I will post. Thank you.

I got my bill last week. I live in Northumberland and naturally that has gone up too. I remember being told the Council add on an amount to cover the people who dont pay. And talking of non payers, at the time of Covid Northumberland County Council wiped off over £2 million. This was money owed for Council tax and I believe rent non payment. Lots of people behind in there tax and rent and the folk who do pay make the shortfall up.

For those that missed his appeal he wanted the Israeli Hostages released but mis read the script prepared for him.
That shows us that what he says in speeches is pre wrote by someone else. His friend multi millionaire Mr Ali perhaps?

Council tax has arrived today up and up it goes pay ours direct debit over 10 months instead of twelve Feb march none do the same with water bill gives you a break after Xmas.

We do the same pay over 10 months then 2 months ‘free’ during that time you prepare yourself first the next year’s bill, we still haven’t had our 2025/26 bill yet.

Got my NorthTyneSide tax rates notification letter today, with a rise of 4.9% Fire @5.2%, Police @7.6% and as you say Mac H, you never see them.

Thames Valley Police commissioner says he needs £600million for the next 12 months, half will be paid from council tax. It covers Buckinghamshire, Berkshire and Oxfordshire. It’s a lot of money, for people we don’t see very often, but I know they do a lot of work we don’t see.

John, the Police Commissioner works the money out. A lot this years will be the extra NI Reeves are making all employers pay. That is what he said. I couldn’t believe how much money is needed, but it covers three counties. Buckinghamshire, Berkshire and Oxfordshire. Sadly a young policeman stationed at my town was murdered a few years ago by three young Gipsies trying to steel a quad bike. Most times we might take them for granted but they put their lives on line every day.

Haven’t received ours yet but I checked on the Herefordshire web site it would appear ours will be £4086 per annum, for what I really couldn’t say, an increase of £200 or £20 per month over 10 months, well done Labour.

John, we live in quite a rural area, lots of growing done necessitating in very heavy vehicles using the roads, loads of potholes etc, we never drive at nights as can’t see the potholes.

When we first moved here 11 years ago we never saw any ethnic minorities and the like, we never had any asylum seekers being housed, that has all changed now, hence the requirement for extra funds. We never see any police in cars or otherwise, the Leader of the Council, (Conservative) goes missing until an Election is due then he makes an appearance.

To my mind having to pay over £4,000 per year on council tax is a complete joke for services received, the council can’t even maintain the single track lane that leads to our little hamlet, we come way down the pecking order but our council tax is just one bracket down from being the top bracket, we don’t have any choice it has to be paid along with all the other expenses, I really don’t know how elderly people on limited incomes can afford this expenditure, it is totally unfair when you consider what asylum seekers are being given.

Liz, that is dreadful and you have to ask for what. On the leaflet we got with ours, more than half all monies collected go on adult and children’s services. If you try to ring the council you just get asked to press different numbers and end back at the beginning. I was trying to pay for my garden waste collection that has changed this year. In the end I did it on line, which I’m never very confident about, but it worked.
