Council Tax

The dreaded Council Tax arrived this morning , it has gone up by 5.4% to the grand total of £4063 per annum.

I know that Herefordshire is a reasonably affluent county, lots of farms that kind of thing, but there are people who are not wealthy how are they supposed to pay the bill, have their salaries, pensions and the like gone up by 5.4%, I don’t think so.

This rise in council tax is just the start, year one of a Labour Government, heaven only knows what the charges will be at the end of the 5 year term, the council tax and other utility charges will never go down, payments to keep migrants in the style that they have grown accustomed to will not be stopping in the foreseeable future either!!!

Liz can never understand all the bands .A house is a house why pay a lot more for being on a higher band we all get the same services .You are penilysed for having a more expensive house all wrong.

Maria, we are penalised because we have quite a large garden, we don’t use all of the supposed services, we don’t have children to educate, we don’t use public services, hardly any to use anyway, we do use the roads, hopefully never have to use the Fire Service or Police, we don’t mind paying our share but there are people who don’t contribute a penny but seem to have the lions share of everything and much more.

In the meanwhile we are putting Illegals up in 3 Star Hotels, giving them 3 Meals a day, spending money, mobile phone and driving lessons, how much have they contributed ? are our politicians totally mental

Our Council Tax on South Tyneside has gone up 4.95%. We rarely see a Policeman, the roads are disgraceful & when it rains the same roads flood each time. We have 54 Councillors to pay out of the Council Tax & what do they do for us?
Surely a dozen good Councillors would be sufficient for our Local Authority????

We welcome thousands of unknown fighting age invaders from the Middle East & Africa. Most of them have no skills so where will they get employment? They will turn this country into one that they said they were escaping from.

My late first husband got the job of fair rents assesment officer for Northumberland it was a new position.Local Government.We came back from Didcot to Northumberland around February 1972 another scheme that was introduced don't know how long that lasted as he passed away young .Been so many things with different Governments but surely this Government is the worst ever .

The rates are way out of all proportion now like all Gov't payments, its time they need to be reassessed. How can a council demand in excess of £4 thousand year on year in rates.

You have to be very careful if you try to get a Band change for your house.
A lot of people tried it & found their Council Tax got increased.

We are one Band down from being in the top Band, things like Council Tax should not be based on political issues, decisions should be made on what is best for the community, the bill this morning, although we knew what was coming, was still a shock to see it in black and white.

Liz, many years ago if you lived in the country, your “rates “ as it was called then were cheaper as we had no electric lights and and other amenities. Then the Party of envy, were voted into power Socialist Labour and decided some people living in the countryside qwerty better off so all our rates were increased. The next thing the decided was if you had a mortgage you got tax relieve and they didn’t like that either, so they removed it. Remember when peopled went onto the Council house list, you waited your turn and eventually got to the top of the list. They changed all that. Suddenly it was those in most need . In my town, beautiful new houses built, in the last 10/15 years. African families who arrived in the town, all housed, Also top of the list people who can work because of alcohol or drug dependancy. Sadly they keep the local police busy, so I’m told by someone who bought a flat next to them.

Weired set up here for house taxes.For example, a family has lived in house for generations there house taxes are based on what they paid for the house. Say the house next door sold several times with current market prices, they are taxed on the most recent price the house sold for while the other house remaining in the family has little to no tax increase. The first house taxes are capped at original price so very little increase in tax.Example, house next door to me original owners say pay 1,000 dollars per year., When I bought my house which had been sold five times my yearly taxes are 6,000 dollars.
