The driving test long waiting time

My granddaughter applied for her driving test here in Harrogate a couple of weeks ago and the earliest is July.

Either there is a lot applying or lack of testers.

Could it be that the tests are becoming longer and tougher, requiring more time to complete ??

There are two parts a written test then a 40 min driving test.

Written test done weeks ago,

It’s probably a lack of testers and more wanting the test.

There's a few test centres closed over the year's that certainly doesn't help.

Judging by the number of cars on the roads, is there anyone who hasn't passed their test yet? We have households with 4-5 cars and not counting commercial vans sitting on drives or outside on the roads.

I did my driving test in South Shields.
That test centre isnt there now so new drivers have to go to places like Sunderland or Gateshead aand they have waiting lists aswell..

Me also Norman for both my motorbike and car, some 63 Happy years ago.

I passed my driving test in January 1960 used BSM opposite the Church in the Haymarket.

Car a sit up and beg Ford Popular. If I remember correctly all done in Jesmond and Gosforth area.

Dad bought me a car in the March. I’m onto my 16 th car now.

I wonder how many different car the I’ve drove, most when diving as spelled other lads on many trips.

Never drove anything other than cars though.

Drivers test humor, Canada, Bought my first car but did not have a drivers licence. Was told the test was easier out of town. Drove my self to a little country village where the tester was a barber. Sat down and had a hair cut, drove down the street while he watched,passed with flying colour's happy days.

Took my test in 1977 in Germany, in my Mini.

2 Points:

The examiner sat in the back seat.....

NO hill start....we lived on the Dutch/German border...there wasn't a hill, or even slight slope for hundreds of miles!!

3 days later, drove across Holland/Belgium (300 miles plus) ferry...home to Yorkshire on leave for a week.... WAIT...there's more

Whilst on leave, rubbed down the muti-coloured car, and re-sprayed it RED...looked great..

Drove back to Germany, stopped at the gate (as usual) and the RAF Police pointed out that my car documents weren't in order, as the colour of the car wasn't correct........DUH!!

Had to explain.....eventually let in, on the promise that I got my documents updated, to reflect the new colour...

Used to do a thousand mile round-trip up to Denmark, to visit my Danish girlfriend, for a long week-end.....Happy Days!!!
