The old library

Great memories of that! The librarians were Pat and Jackie. Ed Nesbitt and I would pop our heads around the door and ask if they had Wind in the Willows. When they said they said yes Ed would say "you can get tablets to cure it"!! the off we'd run.! Apart from that, the olde worlde smell of books was always there. However, Mr Wakefield the chief librarian would arrive with his bike and bicycle clips! I loved that library. The first book I borrowed was a blue jacket with Christmas Carol. Somehow I didn't feel the same about the new one! Anyone recall the old one?

Remember it well Stan, we would pop in after school mainly to look at the photos, also I fancied the librarian lady something rotten, bit to old for me though only 13, think she was about 30, (naughty boy).

I believe you are referring to the sister of the late Robin Mains.
