Security in our once proud England

Two Pro Palistinian Activists broke into Brize Norton RAF base and have damaged 2 aircrafts. Where were the security for the base and do they not have cameras?

The activists were on Electric Scooters, put red paint into the engines & used crow bars to damage the aircraft. They knew these aircraft were probably going off to RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus.

Any other country, they would have been shot before reaching the planes.

I hope they are caught and given a jail sentence. They have probably caused millions of pounds of damage.

I doubt millions, Sheila. Spraying paint up the exhaust will have virtually no effect, although, as a precaution, they will clean most of it out.

The JPT (Jet Pipe Temperature) of around 900 degrees will take care of any residue.

The cost will be what damage did they manage to do with the crowbars? Those aircraft are pretty tough, able to withstand serious damage...

However, when they catch the toe-rags, THEY should be made to climb into the exhaust, to clean up the paint...... a good time to test-run the engines, I would suggest....

I bow to your knowledge Malcolm as I seem to remember you are ex RAF. I just read the particular plane would cost 75 Million to buy in 1917. Just thought if the paint was in the engine it would be costly to repair. I’m pleased the damage was not so bad.

Correct, Sheila, I am ex-RAF. On 2nd thoughts, they might swap out the engine, as a precaution, so the aircraft will be available for it's next job..

I doubt if we'll get to know the damage caused by the crow bars.....

But the most important things, mentioned in the early comments, was how the heck did they get such easy access!!

I read earlier, someone saying, he bet they would not have got into Lakenheath and other RAF stations where the Americans are.
