How is this allowed to happen

My friend in the West Country sent me a text yesterday very upset. She spoke to her friend at Church on Sunday. The lady aged 87 was very frightened as last week her son appeared at her bungalow. This 62 year old man had lived in Australia for over40 years and was diagnosed as schizophrenic. For whatever reason he has been deported from Australia. My friend passed the end of her road yesterday and it had blue tape around the close and four police cars. It appears they were called to her home on Tuesday at 9.10am and arrived ai 9.50am. Sadly the lady was dead and her son has been arrested for her murder. I just think sure the authorities are told when a person is being deported, especially when he could be a danger to others. It’s just a dreadful tragedy .

Sheila, this is because some countries, of which Australia is one of them, like to look after the interests of their own people, if you are a foreigner and you commit a crime, you serve your sentence then once your prison term comes to an end you are deported back to your country of origin, no appeals back you go. We, on the other hand, have had and still do, have mealy mouthed spineless governments, with weak Leaders, Starmer is one of them, who don’t respect the rights of their own people, foreigners serve jail terms in the UK they finish their sentence, no deportation for them they are allowed back onto our streets, the Pakistani grooming gangs are a great example.

That poor lady, the son should have been monitored, his mother should have been told he was back in the country, maybe it was against his human rights?

Liz, that is exactly what I thought would/should happen. I remember there was a man deported from Australia who had moved there as a child, but he was deported after a prison sentence. He was given a flat in one of the villages. The authorities knew about him arriving as he was born in the area. It just seems no one let this poor woman know. He just arrived on her doorstep. Obviously more will told when he goes to trial. I have a feeling he will just be sent to Mental Hospital.

You have to wonder if the mental health services were actually informed when he arrived back in the UK. This isn't the first time of people being deported and the authorities not knowing of them or the background to the deportation. A tragic situation.

Most immigrants do not get naturalised and that is how they are deported after doing there time.

Of course Bill, I realised that is why he would be deported. I’m not sure if immigrants to Australia think about this. I think there are people now who have to answer for this. To allow a sick individual to arrive from Australia and just walk away.
