Embarrassing mobile phone call

I’m not very good using my mobile, in fact I dread having to use it. Today I phoned the surgery to order a new prescription for my husband. The usual lady didn’t answer it was someone standing in for her. She wanted his date of birth, but couldn’t find him on the computer. Eventually she did as these are repeats they are already on the computer, but she couldn’t find them until I had spelled each word for each drug. Eventually it was all ordered. I thanked her and thought I had ended the call. I said to myself out loud “Dear God I’m losing the will to live” then a voice said “ Hello I can still hear you”. I was so embarrassed I admitted I’m useless trying to use a mobile frantically trying tip end the call.🙄😀

The circumstances made the utterance very true AND FUNNY Sheila. I'm sure I'm older than you are so it made me think that would have been me

I’m eighty five Margaret, so perhaps near in age, but you are very good with genealogy, I think it’s so interesting , but would not know where to start.

Sheila, In Genealogy, it's easy to know where to start....start with YOU...simples!

You have 2 parents, and each of them have 2 parents, that makes four, and each of them have 2 parents, so that's eight more...etc...

But more importantly, decide which line you want to trace, and why....

Take small steps, and only believe the evidence, NOT assumptions....

There are clearly some on here who would advise you, and with so many on-line resources & records, you'd be surprised what you may uncover....

I started mine back in 1985..pre internet....LOTS of trips to County record offices, Kew Record office, cemeteries, etc.... great fun !!!!

I really appreciate your advice Malcolm, unfortunately I think I’ve left it too late, as I don’t feel I have the energy and other commitments are taking my time. I do think it would be interesting and fun. I should have thought about it in earlier years.

Anne it can be so frustrating. I still prefer my land line. A long story, buy my new contracts makes it expensive to use.

What really annoys me is the likes of Doctors Surgeries who assume that everyone is computer literate, no thought or consideration given to older patients.
