Weekend Header on the Beach down Shields

Happy days on the beach at Shields where we all went when we were young. Not a bathing costume or a track suit in sight

As I am typing this it is lashing down with rain.
BUT even worse, last night, ie early evening it lashed down with large size hailstones. bigger than I'd seen before. It made so much noise hitting the sunroofs.

Date mid to late 30’s only because of the white shoes on the chap with the Plus Fours. Bottom LHS.

Eat your heart out @ Benedorme But not just now I believe it is flooding awash.I am glad that II live in England. The four seasons, can't better It * Everyone in their Sunday best.I would be three years young so not likely to be there.probably squawking my head off in the one up-stairs room in our one up one down, with all mod-coms outside in a corner of the twenty plus feet X twelve foot ,approx foot print plus a scullery and a bedroom in a lean-to add on.Big problem small on space which to live, seven of us, grandma my mum ,dad and me my mums two brothers and my mums younger sister. Tin bath in front of the Wrought Iron, black Leaded all signing all dancing Range,todays Argar.Did we have time to escape If yes? WHERE TO? This is our HOME

I have gone on a bit, Tempted not to sit on my hands and thoughts
sometimes. Cheers.

Must have been so uncomfortable on a red hot day wearing all them winter clothes, could never understand it, (false modesty or what).

Joseph it’s late afternoon and a strong WESTERLY BLOWING.

They all may have been boiling during the day and the late wind could have brought a chill.

That used to be around time that sailing ships set sail and all the better if there was an ebb tide.

It’s or was normal for any wind to turn into an off shore wind in the evening.

Used to know all the old sailors tales from my diving days.

A westerly wind coming off the land on a hot day in Shields is a warm wind.
An easterly wind coming off the sea is a colder wind simply because the North Sea is cold water.
