What I am thinking

This board is slowly dying.
When I looked this morning there's nothing new, just old posts I read yesterday.
Face Book is killing off Local History Forum's like this one.
When Mike Ellison started with this great idea in the 1990s it was before Facebook took over the world.

Norman just keep it going. It still works it’s just the oldies are getting less and they have contributed in the past so tend maybe not to post the stuff they did years ago

The newer members have no idea about things that we old one know from the past nor will they unless old stuff re posted.

Norman, I'm not on FarceBook, I'm not even from the Hebburn area but I tune in to the forum everyday. I like the photo's, stories, jokes and banter. I've mentioned before how I found the forum all those years ago. A chap called Kevin took tons of pictures of the Trinity Square car park in Gateshead as it was being dismantled. I wonder what happened to Kevin. I've visited the Forum every day ever since.Long may the Forum reign.

Norman, although not always posting, I would certainly miss your forum. I often play devils advocate, but it gets people making their point. It’s good that we can see others point of view.

Norman, Icheck in every morning. I appr3ciqte tou for running this, my parents are now dead and this way I am still able to hear the old stories and keep finding out things about my birthplace and where my parents grew up.thank you for all you do.

You are comparing Apples and Pears.
This forum bring enjoyment to a small group of people, generally respectful and just like chatting to friends.
Facebook has its advantages but is different and has a wider audience which often causes contention (and worse).

Norman, the Forum you have dedicated your time and effort to is really appreciated by so many people, you are correct it is a bit quiet at the moment but, do you ever check to see how many hits certain postings have, if you don’t I think you will be very surprised.

I agree that there have been a few departures from the Board over the last few years but, maybe I am sure that those who are nit listing are still looking every day.

Obviously you do give up such a lot of your time to making the Board the success that it is, so if you can see your way to carrying on for the foreseeable future I am sure that other Board posters would really appreciate it, at the end of the day though the decision must be entirely yours.

In any event thank you so much for what you have done so far, it has brought pleasure to lots of people.

I’d like to second everything everyone else has said in favor of the board. I’m away from my computer at the moment so don’t really post much on my phone though I read it every day. This forum has something that the Facebook groups don’t, so I hope it keeps running.

I posted what I know to be true.
My Post wasnt implying I'm packing in running the Forum though as I still enjoy running it & just as much as I did on day 1 in Nov 2016..

This forum is the best thing since sliced bread, look forward to reading the comments every day, so much information and history, whilst I use Facebook it does not compare to this site, so many dodgy items !

I wonder if one of the reasons is that there may be many like me who don't know anyone personally who writes on the Board and therefore my interest is negligible unless a place or person I have previously been associated with merits a mention. This is not to denigrate the Board, but simply a truism about me.
I concentrate on my life here in Herefordshire, which, I suspect, would be of little or no interest or relevance to where I was brought up as a youngster.
Nevertheless, I enjoy my infrequent wanders onto the Board and wish everyone well.

Hi Peter,
Most people on this forum could walk passed each other and not know they had.
Most visitors to the Forum are spread out all over the UK and the world and have never met.
I said what I said because we are losing regulars regularly whilst free sites like Face Book are thriving.
When pics on my site get onto a local FB site thanks to friends (with my permission) they draw loads of great comments but those same FB users aren't interested in coming onto this Forum.Sadly FB is slowly killing off far better Forums than there's. That's just my opinion as I never use FB .Now if FB closed down they'd be straight onto this one wouldn't they
