HMOs

Where are these in Hebburn and Jarrow either allready open or proposed? I saw the that Hall Road is one such proposal and some one said the former Kelly pub is another.

We have ex military people on the streets in the UK suffering from PTSD etc and this Government is encouraging illegal invaders from the Middle East and Africa by housing them in Hotels and HMOS with our Tax payers hard earned money. The United Arab Emirates said they wouldnt take in the people we are taking in because they are radicals.

I dont know how many HMO's we have in our area David. But it is too many & our Councillors need to act for us & get it stopped.
I do know a Hebburn ex Pat friend was reminicsing about his old area so went for a walk with his camera to where our old Infirmary was in Hebburn Hall & was told by what looked like Middle Eastern Invaders ( guards) that he wasnt welcome so 'can you leave as this is Private Property..

In 2009 the Council had an exhibition in the library they were trying to stop people altering houses, they were trying to keep the heritage of the town and Hall Road was especially named. Have they changed their minds?

I believe that the house at the top of Glen Street, near Willow Garage has been converted into a house of multiple occupancy

A lot of HMO's are targeted towards students as college accommodation of which many have been built recently and continue to be built charge an absolute fortune per month. I don't dispute that some house asylum seekers but certainly not all. Not all students can afford the exorbitant rent of the college accommodation and HMO's are more realistically priced accommodation for a lot of students.

Landlords who changed their houses into HMOs for Students do not have the same government grants ie guarantee 5 years rent and repairs as HMOs for asylum seekers.

Sheila is right, but has anyone mentioned the 5 year guarantee. Are the HMO's being converted by a known company, it should be easy to check via planning application.

Like Brian I must point out that HMO's have a place in providing accommodation and are most often of benefit.
An application to convert a property to an HMO is very common with agreement or otherwise given by the planning office. Government, other than through the primary legislation (Housing Act 2004), has no part in the process so a petition is futile.
The only way to object is via the Planning Office for the Local authority when an application is advertised.
BUT it is possible, even probable that some may be planned to house those of which one disapproves in which case be careful to have actual evidence not rumour if placing an objection .

In the past , students would share a rented house together, totally different to HMO’s. Who would have thought this country would allow so much immigration that HMO’s have now become acceptable.

They did, my son did this, but landlords make more money by turning them into HMO's hence the change, it's been happening in the past 20 years or so, a lot are used by people working away from home too, again cheaper than a flat or bed and breakfast for people working away from home. The immigrants trend is a recent happening

I think it would be too cost prohibitive. St Cuthberts sits on a fair size bit of land, it would be the most valuable to the diocese.

A regular Hebburn board visitor sent me a list of HMO's being created in Hebburn, Jarrow & South Shields so there must be a lottttttttt of Illegal Invaders wanting housed here in South Tyneside.
Here below are a few HMO applications for Hebburn and Jarrow.Why are Fighting Age Invaders being welcomed by our Authorities?

The people who are housed get little or no choice, it's the companies you should take issue with, they have the contracts and they decide where they go.
