My son and I were just talking about the Argentina people saying the Falklands belongs to them and we've stolen it from them.
The Falklands are way out in the Atlantic Ocean 290 miles from Argentina and have never belonged to Argentina.
Hundreds of years ago the Spanish looted treasures & stole the country from the original inhabitants. So it was OK for their Spanish ancestors to steal.

Two Spanish players waved a banner about Gibraltar in a previous world cup and received a one game ban according to Fifa rules. This rule hasn't been revealed if Fifa uphold their rules there could be a few gaps in the Argentinian line up but don't bank on it.

Maybe a yellow card to each Argentinian player that might help them focus the mind on football and not dirty tricks!!! Just a thought.

Norman, when the first British settles arrived in the Falklands, there was no such country as Argentina. Later the area called now called Argentina had Italian and Spanish colonists, as the original indigenous people.

Love the picture but also be aware that the Argentinian Air Force (Fuerza Aerea Argentina) are in the process of buying 24 ex Royal Danish Air Force F16 fighter aircraft to increase their capability.

I think the Argentinians should think long and hard before trying something stupid with those Jets we have our Typhoon Jets based down in the Falklands that could blow those Danish jets out of the air, also don’t forget they might have refuelling issues it’s quite a journey from Argentina to the Falklands and back, if they think they can ‘invade’ again they would need to carry lots of weaponry which would add weight to the aircraft that would obviously use lots of fuel.

The Americans only allowed the Danes to sell the Jets to Argentina because the Argentinians said they would buy Jets from China instead, the Danes should have done the correct thing and let Ukraine have this Jets.

And 24 F16's flown by Argentinian pilots, versus a few Typhoons flown by the RAF? No contest! (or maybe I'm biased!!!)

Liz,
your point is well taken regarding fuel but the Argentinians are also in the market to obtain air to air tankers for precisely that reason.
The Argentinian air force is very professional and the F16 is still a very capable aircraft, one for one inferior to the Typhoon or our carrier operated F35B but we very few Typhoons (?2) operating out of the Falklands and only two aircraft carriers.
I have been to Argentina and the Falklands and I can understand the emotion and national pride from both the sides, I only hope a diplomatic solution is found before more young lives are lost.

Argentinians need a History Lesson.
Spanish 'Invaders' 3000 miles away across the Atlantic invaded,looted gold, killed indigenous people & took over that part of South America & named it Argentina.
Argentinians are mostly of Spanish descent.
The Falkland Islands have no link to Argentina which is 290 miles away. The islands were never part of Argentina so they have no right to it.

The lovely 'Canary Islands' off the coast of Africa are Spanish, but how?????
The Spanish invaded those Islands hundreds & hundreds of years ago and killed all the indigenous people. Consequently we don't know what the original 'Canarian People' looked like.
Were they black people like the Africans?
We don't know cos they were eliminated by the Spanish.

They were related to the Berber people of North Africa. Archaeological digs have found out quite a bit about their customs including mummification, cave dwelling etc

Very true John the Argentinians are trying to buy 2 air to air tankers from America, mind you in the event of purchase they won’t be the kind of thing that can be hid up in the sky easily spotted by our people based in the Falklands?

There are 4 Typhoons based in the Falklands, I think our Airforce is far more superior to the Argentinian Airforce, let’s hope Argentina don’t get silly about things, like you I wouldn’t want young lives to be lost especially our own.
