BBC

Watching Breakfast TV earlier and there was a item about the worlds biggest Half Marathon, The Great North Run. The picture of the Tyne Bridge they put up was absolutely disgusting, covered in rust. It just goes to show what the BBC thinks about the North East area.

That picture they were running would have been last year or the year before hope we see a change tomorrow .

Is the Tyne Bridge still being refurbished or is it finished now?

Have not been over for a while. We use the tunnel a charge but it is easier for where we want to go. We might get a suprise tomorrow they had been working on it for ages.

I did a drive down to Hebburn, on 9th Aug. Trying to depart Hebburn, and avoid the massive traffic jams on the western by-pass, I ended up driving through Newcastle, and across the Tyne Bridge. A first for me. It was still covered in scaffolding back then. And the road works leading up to it were a nightmare!

It'll be nice when Newcastle is finally finished, as they say!

Thanks for the update Malcolm, last time we crossed the Tyne Bridge it was a disgrace how it had been allowed to rot such an iconic structure. I have to agee with you regarding local traffic an absolute nightmare, we have avoided the area for a few years now.

It will be nice to see such an iconic structure looking good again.
