I was looking through a book last night and came across this map of Hebburn from 1959 which I thought people might find interesting. It was too big to fit on my scanner, so I did the best I could with my phone camera. You'll probably have to download it to see the details.

Thanks for that, AJG. Showing my part of Hebburn, 3 years after I arrived!
And it calls the Lakes as Hebburn Ponds...

I'll take a closer look in the morning!

The Ellison's lived in Hebburn Hall and were 'lords of the manor' in the 1800s. They had a beautiful garden and decided they'd like a garden pond. But being wealthy they went for 4 ponds instead.
Years later their garden became our Hebburn Park and Hebburn people called their ponds Hebburn Lakes.
Their Manor House has recently gone up for sale for £1.8 million.

Thanks for the that Norman, however street names are still illegible, the street where I live is shown but looks like a different name which I can’t make out, pity about that !

Clennel Avenue off Victoria Road West and West Parade.

Hi Mac. Yes, it's there, but it's right on the crease, between the 2 pages.
To to the left of Carr Ellison Park, I see West Parade, and running north off West Parade is Clennel Avenue, but a bit obscured by the crease.
