That is not what I said or meant. I meant that Christians, as well as other religions or ideologies, should avoid inserting their personal or religious doctrines and beliefs into politics. Politics in this country should be about common sense laws and guidelines for the entire population, through consensus, to serve a diverse and free country with people of many different personal beliefs and customs. Jesus himself seemed supportive of that idea, as he was about personal spirituality (if you will) and not about politics. However, many Christians in this country have long wanted to claim that this is or should be a "Christian" nation. That simply isn't true, and never has been as per those who founded the country and wrote the Constitution and its amendments.
