you could be brought up in a non-religious home and somehow find faith, perhaps through an experience that couldn't be explained.
my vision of "god" is a multifaceted crystal. When you look you see through the lense of your culture and experiences. This is why portraits of god differ. After all if you are a parent, even a divine one, wouldn't dad have your skin tone and common facial features?
And perhaps (mind you I'm just conjecturing here) each of the facets has a name. Thus we have Allah, Vishnu, Jehova, Elohim, Shiva, Ishtar... etc.
Putting that all aside, I see no evidence of an active deity.
