This has been building up for decades, so not surprised.

But splintering of the Christian church has gone on from its beginning. How many thousands of varieties do we have now? Last count I was aware of was over 9,000. How much of that was difference of opinion, and how much of that was wanting to create new bases of power? Christianity has always a political religion.
