We do gift giving for immediate family only - both my parents are gone and so are both of my husband's parents, so its really just gifts to both our daughters, our son-in-law, and our two grandchildren. My husband and I decide on a mutual gift for each other - one gift that we will both enjoy together.

Dinner will be the usual chips and dips (keeps everyone out of the kitchen so I am not tripping over people), spiral glazed ham, potatoes au gratin, caesar green beans, home baked corn bread and/or dinner rolls. Apple juice to drink . . . or ice water. We aren't big on alcohol though we do sometimes serve it but not this year as everyone will be driving to the next town over to hear our girls sing in the church choir.

No need to have a pile of gifts under the tree - give of oneself, the best gift of all. I heard someone say that spending time with someone is the best gift of all.
