Atheism doesn't try to prove that no gods exist. Even if that were humanly possible (it probably isn't), that's not what atheism describes. Atheism is a particular leap of faith on the matter of the truth-state of the proposition "God exists." It's an assertion,* not an argument. *an assertion that the person has consciously recognized the "direction" of that non-volitional leap, to belief that gods don't exist.
