There has been a 100% tariff on Chinese EVs for some time now, and thus their makers don't try to enter that market. Chinese EVs have equivalent (or better) technology to the best US makers (Lucid, Rivian, Tesla) at a fraction of the cost. From simple commuter cars with surprising range and super-fast charging for under $20k to something like the Zeeker 9X, a three-row luxury SUV that might cost nearly $90k, but is simply unrivaled in features: 10% - 90% charging in 9 minutes, >700 mile range when using the onboard gas generator (c. 450 w/o), luxury amenities to rival a $300k Bentley...and 1400 horsepower.

I don't commute (and when I'm in Tokyo, very seldom drive at all), and when in the US I mostly do long(ish) road trips, so with our still-inadequate charging infrastructure an EV doesn't really work for me. But with the range and charging time issues moving quickly towards being a non-problem, they make sense for a lot or people. It's just kind of a pity the best ones aren't sold to Americans.
