There has been a 100% tariff on Chinese EVs for some time now, and thus their makers don't try to enter that market. Chinese EVs have equivalent (or better) technology to the best US makers (Lucid, Rivian, Tesla) at a fraction of the cost. From simple commuter cars with surprising range and super-fast charging for under $20k to something like the Zeeker 9X, a three-row luxury SUV that might cost nearly $90k, but is simply unrivaled in features: 10% - 90% charging in 9 minutes, >700 mile range when using the onboard gas generator (c. 450 w/o), luxury amenities to rival a $300k Bentley...and 1400 horsepower.

I don't commute (and when I'm in Tokyo, very seldom drive at all), and when in the US I mostly do long(ish) road trips, so with our still-inadequate charging infrastructure an EV doesn't really work for me. But with the range and charging time issues moving quickly towards being a non-problem, they make sense for a lot or people. It's just kind of a pity the best ones aren't sold to Americans.

The better ones, especially the hydrogen vehicles, are in Japan.

But there is no money in water. No lithium needed. No wars over that resource. And less reliance on oil and its wars.

At home, we have a very nice BYD Han .Really nice car.

Most other EV makers and governments still don't get it. They still don't understand the importance of charging. They sell EVs and don't give people an easy to way charge them on long road trips.

I live in an apartment with no way to charge at home. I drive about 50,000 miles a year for work. Tesla Supercharger Network is adequate for me, but still much slower than gas stations.

Dream on. There were wars among the cave dwellers.

I get your point but it’s not gonna happen until humanity gets a wake up call from the Universe. They’ll fight over lithium. Oh wait, huge amounts in Ukraine.
