The existential proposition "God exists" is very probably unfalsifiable, at least for most relevant (and coherent) definitions of "God." The cognitive toolset required to make such determinations is grounded in both physical phenomena (that is, functions of the brain) and the analytic principles of logic. Neither are necessarily applicable to the supernatural. The supernatural is basically a "Get Out of Logic & Reason Card." I happen not to believe there are any such things as supernatural phenomena (not the same thing as metaphysical phenomena...a matter for another conversation), but that's just that: my belief.

The Abrahamic God as most often asserted (that is, omniscient and omnipotent), represented a massive escalation in the ancient "my god's bigger than your god" arms race. Posit a deity with both of those "omnis" (regardless of the massive logical contradictions that arise) and you instantly remove all possibility of being one-upped. Add the probably impossibility of falsifying that claim, and presto! The biggest, bestest god of all! But fail to assert those qualities, and suddenly your god isn't different in kind from any other, just (allegedly) in degree.
