Not everyone has the luxury to wake up in the morning full of wide eye wonder dreaming about what will happen next in space exploration. Many are struggling just to survive. Sounds like EM is thinking like the rich cat that he is. Besides, SpaceX has gone public and will be open to trading on the NASDAQ soon if its not already. My guess is he wants investors interested in his company. So yeah he is marketing. And we in the US continue with war, with a collapsing health care system, with overly greedy corporations, with Social Security and Medicare problems, with housing issues, with increasing food prices.

Colonization of other worlds, even our own Moon, isn't exactly a possibility right now. Finding an inhabitable world that can sustain our life is even more problematic if not impossible at our stage of development. I don't know if it will ever be possible considering the vastness of distances in this universe. Besides we'd just take our problems with us. Fix what is wrong here before we decide to go and ruin another world.
