Do you believe George Washington was our first President? Do you know anyone who knew him? No, but we believe the historical documents written about him.

How about Alexander the Great, tutored by Aristotle, a brilliant conqueror, built a great empire spreading hellenistic culture
across Asia and Africa leaving a vast impression on the world.
We know this because of two books written 400 years after he lived.
Historical documents.

Then there’s Jesus and the entire New Testament written within 70 years of His resurrection by eyewitnesses, people who knew Him, who spent time with Him, and others who knew those who knew Him. We have over 5,000 original manuscripts that are 99% identical to one another attesting to the verification of the facts.

So you can huff and puff and pretend like you’re blowing the house down, but the actual historical record proves you wrong.
But the greater proof that will never shake the millions of believers
is what Christ does in their lives and in the lives of their Christian brothers and sisters, and has been doing for more than 2,000 years. When it comes to Truth, incorrect opinions do not matter to the Truth itself, only to those who get it wrong.

Christians share their understanding because it’s a wonderful thing, the Truth. And when God’s love is fully realized (because that’s what HISTORY is really all about), everyone deserves to know about it. Fighting it can keep it at bay, but the documented story of the anti-Christian Paul on the road to Damascus is evidence that God can and does change the hearts of men in a flash. We don’t know who those people might be. Some of my dear Christian friends didn’t come to faith until decades passed.
So, I don’t post to win an argument, but I do hope that someone might be encouraged at least to consider that maybe they should give some thought to what Jesus meant when he said: “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man comes to the Father but by me.”
