Price of two round-trip tickets: $840 before fees

Not too bad. Pretty good, actually.

Airport Authority Fee: $30.00
Airport Departure Tax: $20.00
Tourism Tax: $10.00
Customs User Fee: $7.20
Immigration User Fee: $7.00
Solidarity Tax: $6.64 [wtf?]
Passenger Civil Aviation Security Service Fee: $5.60
Passenger Facility Charge: $4.50
APHIS User Fee: $3.71

Actual costs of two tickets?

$1,199.58

Those fees are outrageous.

Should taxes on luxury vacations be higher than taxes on groceries?

Trips like that are luxury, not a necessity.

I hope you enjoy your vacation.

In California we citizens do not pay a tax on food.

It's nice to have friends with timeshares. lol

Next week we're spending five days on Hilton Head, staying with friends who have a timeshare there.

In January we're going to Punta Cana for a week with friends who have an all-inclusive timeshare there.

That'll be two nice low-cost vacations while we save our money for a 15-day Viking Ocean Cruise next Spring.
