I agree with this. Immigrants should behave like guests. There is a legal way to immigrate. Immigrants should do things the legal way.

The Government is only cracking down on ILLEGAL immigrants. The legal ones are still welcome here.

Instead of deporting the workers, would it be better to focus on illegal immigrants who are committing violent crimes or selling illegal drugs?

I have no idea how the Work Visa program works.

I have no idea how many Work Visas are issued every year.

If the program is too cumbersome and/or time consuming, then revise the program.

If all foreign workers were vetted and registered through the Work Visa program, who would have an issue with it?

But just saying "We need someone to pick our cotton" so that justifies illegal immigration?

Nope.

We must return to "Green Card" ....they would come to work in the summer and then go home....or in some instances they would also come to work in the hotels of Aspen and construction in the summer.....

I can definately get on board with that.

...seemingly, HALF of Americans are perfectly fine with tens of millions of people violating our immigration laws.

That just boggles my mind. Where does that kind of thinking even COME FROM?

"They're seeking asylum!"

Just because your home country sucks doesn't mean that you qualify for asylum.

"They're just looking for a better life!"

Not my problem. Do it legally. Or don't do it.

"They pick our cotton!"

They fix the laws so they can pick your cotton legally.

Illegal immigration has a SEVERE NEGATIVE IMPACT on SO MANY things. Our Public Schools. Hospitals. Law enforcement. Employment. Crime. Homelessness. Welfare programs.

"But they pick our cotton!" is NO reason to just turn a blind eye to ILLEGALITY!

Yes, if people don't like a law they should protest or change the law.

Too many people are protesting the law enforcers. Here in Los Angeles I am seeing people protesting ICE.

If they don't like the laws, they should try to change the laws.

If my wife and decided that we wanted to move to Norway, why in the WORLD...

...would anyone think it was OK for us to fly to Norway...and then JUST STAY!

AND why would we ever expect to feel comfortable staying there ILLEGALLY?

And if we took our Grandson with us, and he grew up not knowing ANYTHING about the United States, and if my wife and I got arrested for being in Norway illegally and we were deported back to our home country, why would we get to say "But that means you're deporting our Grandson! He's never known any country but Norway! He knows nothing about the U.S.!"

I mean, if you flipped-the-script, why would anything think that what we did was perfectly fine?

THAT'S what REALLY pisses me off. All of the AMERICANS who are perfectly fine with people from other countries saying "F*CK YOUR LAWS, WE'RE COMING IN!!!"

there are literally hundreds of thousands of backlogged cases.

the cost to immigrate is often opressive (or at least more expensive than I think is appropriate)

If there was a way to make the system clearer, cleaner, and more efficient, I believe there would be far less illegal immigration

Of course there's a backlog. That's partly because the United States has ever right to...

I don't know what the actual numbers are, but:

If 20 million people want to come into this country, and the US only allows 500,000 a year to immigrate, there will of COURSE be a backlog.

I guess there are people who think the US should just let as many people as want to immigrate?

I wonder how long people think it takes for someone to legally immigrate into OTHER countries?

ILLEGAL immigrants are humans and they deserve they same rights and respect as everyone else.

bleeding hearts? ... My heart bleeds for the legal resident who can't afford a home because we have a shortage of affordable housing and the city is overcrowded with illegal immigrants.

This was inspired by a true story about a US citizen who was wrongly deported.

It shows how we should be careful to only deport the ILLEGAL immigrants.
