Is it moral to kill Water Buffalo for "Sport"?

Lions hunt for food because they need to eat. Some people only hunt for "Sport". In this video, the Buffalo won the "game" and killed the hunter. Later the Buffalo was killed by friends of the hunter.

The second video shows a Water Buffalo kept as a friendly loving pet.

I realize they were different kinds of Buffalo. Some Buffalo evolved in Africa where they need to smart and mean so the lions don't kill them. American farm Buffalo are probably safer.

Kill ANYTHING FOR SPORT. I do love to eat, so I like deer, rabbit, quail, and dove. I hate to see an animal die, but I love my freezer being filled and my family and sometimes friends fed.

As I mentioned down-thread, I don't object to legal hunting for those who use the meat and other resources or for necessarily population control. Hunting and killing for sport just rubs me the wrong way. If a person has no interest in the meat, hide, etc., why not just use a camera?

I wished that I had a camera instead of a gun. Folks would be surprised by what they can see in the woods when the critters don't know anyone is around.

I was in the stand once and had a huge woodpecker land in a tree 25 to 30 feet from me and stay there for at least 5 minutes. I didn't get a deer that day, but the excitement of seeing the woodpecker that close to me will stay with me the rest of my life.

killing. I also don't get why people love to stuff and mount dead things on their walls.

Hunting for food is one thing, killing for pleasure is another.

When I was around 12 years old, I had one of those single-pump Daisy BB-guns.

That BB-gun had no range. Shooting it at anything over about 20 feet away you had to aim above your target to hit anything.

I was up in the backyard, and I saw a Morning Dove sitting on a tree branch quite a ways away. Just to see if I could hit anything that far away, I took a shot at it.

I aimed well above it, and the BB missed low and to the right.

So I aimed a little higher and to the left a little.

The next BB hit the bird right in the chest.

The bird swung down under the branch, holding on with one talon for a few seconds, then dropped to the ground.

I ran over to check it out. It was sitting on the ground looking at me, with a little ruffle in its chest feathers where the BB had gone in.

Slowly it opened its beak, and threw up a big blob of blood.

I've never hunted anything ever again since that day.

They suffer when hit. I especially dispise bow season.

Many animals have a hunting instinct. Some housecats like to kill for fun.

Housecats get all the food they want for free, but they still have the urge to hunt and kill harmless little birds.

Humans are supposed to be intelligent. Humans are supposed to be able to use their brains to go against primitive instincts.

I understand the urge to kill, but I still don't like it.

Trophy/sport hunting is disgusting.

Hunting for resource (meat, hides, etc.) or for necessary population control is fine.

The whole idea of killing for "sport" is repulsive to me.

In my younger days I hunted but I ate what I killed . I also enjoyed hunting and the adventures it gave me.
Maybe you should watch a video on how they kill cows ,pigs in a processing plant . It might turn you into a vegetarian,

If there were no hunting by regular citizens, there would have to be state-sponsored hunts to control the population of some game animals (given how we've crowded out so many of the big predators). I think hunting serves that purpose in most states, and the resources don't go to waste.

hunting to keep a population under control.

Trophy killing and killing for sport are done for the pleasure it gives the hunter.

I freely admit I have no idea why some find killing pleasurable.

Animals raised for consumption should be treated well - often they are not. Slaughter houses do not choose the quickest method possible. They no doubt select methods that are easier and cheapest for them.

Humans are like any other species - we have to eat to survive. Methods selected should be as quick and humane as possible. Often they are not.

I have friends who hunt but they use EVERYTHING

on the animal. They respect the creature's sacrifice.

I also understand, but would hope the animal is used in some way otherwise it's so wasteful
