Did Einstein ever think stars would last forever?

Even back then, I think they knew about thermodynamics.

To me it seems obvious that stars will eventually run out of fuel. So the Universe we see now must have had some kind of beginning.

You are correct. A stable Universe is impossible no matter how you figure.

I suppose that Einstein figured that there MUST be a hidden force that made stability possible. His Cosmological Constant might have been one attempt to do this. Remember that neither the strong nor weak nuclear force was known to him at that time.

God is the stable force. Eternity is forever. There is no end ever.

We observe a universe designed for our requirements to be alive. Behind the scrim are other “mansions”. How do I know this? I don’t. But man and his reasonings are not the apex. We are just one case, not a precedent.
