I never heard of Charlie Kirk until I heard he was murdered. The thread below is

fascinating. Some here (and elsewhere) paint him as a saint, others as a devil of sorts. Politics is mixed into that thread along with religion.

Now I have to look him up and find out what he was about.

way of thinking. Probably a good strategy as most mature adults are pretty set in their beliefs.

He is now gone but his message will remain out there. Ya can't kill ideas. Since he was murdered and his death has made the front pages he gathered greater attention. How long that attention lasts is debatable. My guess is that he will be called a martyr of some sort in some circles.

It's interesting to me to see what people focus on in all of this. It's not on what I would hope.

Personally, I find his message disturbing. But he isn't the only one that has voiced such ideas. He won't be the last either.

What do you see as his message?

At this point in time I prefer to stand back and exercise a certain amount of restraint/decorum in debating/arguing over what Kirk said and what conclusions can be drawn from that regarding his character.

I think the main focus should at this point in time be on condemning political violence, murder, and the use of such violence to silence someone that exercises their Constitutional right.

There will be plenty of time in the not too distant future to get into the 'nitty-gritty' of what Kirk said.

And yet you stated what you thought his strategy was.

I am happy that my kids are way too smart to ever be influenced by someone so ignorant.

Charlie Kirk was maturing as a genuine Christian.

He was a good guy with some flaws. But in the main he offered a moral message to youth. Something so sorely needed today as an antidote, like garlic to ward off bloodsucking vampires. He himself was in the midst of a self re-evaluation, a turning point. His message was morphing and maturing. RIP.

I think it was a good strategy - made sense.

The only Turning Point I am familiar with is a radio program by David Jeremiah a Bible teacher. It probably predates Kirks group by decades. Used to listen to him when I milked in the mornings.

I think it was terrible he was shot. It is hard to filter out all the politics and hate to get to the facts. Don't have time to wade through it all. Politics is not a big part of my life.

I have a filter in my head.

I think I developed it over time.

Whenever I read an article or listen to a broadcast, my brain filters out the political stuff and also the religious arguments. I don't always catch everything, but where many statements that are political or religious in nature are pretty obvious.

That just leaves the 'facts' - and if I have the time and interest I will try to verify those 'facts'. Sometimes the facts reported aren't even facts.

I think its a rarity to find a fact reporting, unbiased news outlet. At various times I've caught both sides only telling their side of it. I no longer have confidence in the news.

Of course if it's an editorial, I get that opinion and judgment will enter into it and other views.

Nothing like mornings on a farm - I miss my little hobby farm.

Often times people respond in accordance to what camp they hang out in, finger pointing at the other side of the issue.

Goes on all the time.

Generally speaking, the gravity of the loss is influenced by which camp the victim belonged to. People who are members of the same camp tend to react with more anger/upset/horror than if the victim belonged to an opposing camp.

That's not true for everyone, but true for too many.
