"Math Suggests We May Be the Only Intelligent Life in the Universe"

My interest in SETI is what first brought me to the old MSNBC boards. This is still one of my favorite topics.
There are billions of Earth-like planets in the Milky Way. We don't have any proof there is anything unique about our Earth. If life can arise once on one planet, then it should be able to arise on some of the other planets.
If God exists and he is all powerful, then he would not put life on just one planet. It seems like typical human ego to assume we are the only intelligent life in the Universe. That's the same flawed thinking that made people assume Earth was the center of the Universe.
The math and speculations are interesting, but stronger telescopes will tell us a lot more.
"Odds Are The Universe is Full Of Intelligent Life, Mathematician Finds"
This video disagrees with the previous video. She also says something similar to what I posted above.
"If you assume that on average each planet has the same small probability of life to arise, then what are the odds that there is one and only one intelligent species in the universe."
I think there must be some other intelligent life on other planets. My only question is "How far away are they."
