First of all, I’m here to defend the genre of 70s ballads as a great American accomplishment. Unabashedly romantic, they still hit today.
Second of all, I KNOW you didn’t talk any shit about Karen Carpenter. I don’t know what kind of range you’re looking for, but I don’t know of any other singer who projects sadness and sweetness in equal measure like she did.
