Predictably, the top C worthy of the 19 were gone when they came around. At first was a bit surprised by Carboneau as the pick over one of the defensemen based on reports leading up to the draft, but it sounds like he was the best value on the board and has decent upside. Like the pick. Considering they didn't pick again until the 5th round thanks to the offer sheets on Broberg/Holloway, have to consider the draft a win.

FA, lose Faksa but signed Sutter yesterday which is a decent upgrade. Also signed Bjustad which is fine for a 4th line C. They still lack a legitmate #2 C so hopefully Schenn continues to play as well as he did down the stretch last season paired with Holloway.

Trade Bolduc for Mailloux. I think Bolduc is probably at peak value right now and comes from an area of depth. If Snuggerud plays well next season, we won't miss him and makes him a worthwhile expendature to acquire someone with Mailloux's upside. There's some risk that Mailloux doesn't hit, but it's nice to add someone with his potential.

And with the Sharks claiming Leddy off waivers today, they get to completely erase his $4M cap hit and didn't have to pay any draft or prospect capital for it to happen. Best case scenario there.

All in all, I think it was a pretty good week for the Note.
