I had a conference there in late-September a few years back
It snowed about an inch in Banff on the last day. Wasn't a problem getting around town but I'm not sure how things were out on the trails. Had been around 70 for two days immediately before. I've also been there in mid-June when snow from the previous winter was still around gumming up hiking paths. If you're comfortable with snow being a small (and possibly large) aspect of the trip then go. It's amazing. But it'll be luck of the draw how bad it is when you get there.
