I agree with what you wrote, but enough worked that i liked it. Not sure how many more of his books
I could handle though. And reading PHM made me dislike Mark Watney a bit as his personality quirks were too close to PHM's main character  Previous Message I'm a little over halfway through, and it's been a struggle. My main issues are: -the main character is supremely annoying, like a youth pastor made himself in a video game -the glibness and smugness of every human character, the non sense science gives the story no real urgency -the dialogue is much too snappy -combine those and you've got a YA novel that tries to deliver "The story of your life" from the producers of big bang theory and boy meets world. Maybe Andy Weir's style just isn't for me. I thought the Martian was good enough, but this one just isn't doing it.
