It was a recent read for a book club I'm in. Overall, I think we had it about 3.5/5.
I very generally liked it, I enjoyed parts of it. BUT... It seemed like many reviews had "science thriller!" in some form as part of the review, and there were a pretty good number of plot holes and bad science-y stuff for something I'm supposed to enjoy on its technical merits... It's fine it relies on the fantasy as much as the science, but the reviews were off the mark for what it is. Previous Message The first half of the book I was mostly enjoying it, but the science was mostly shallow and the repetitiveness of the 2nd half dropped it down to a 3* and it just bug me to think about it. Though it doesn't bug me as much as Tomorrow Tomorrow and Tomorrow.

Project Hail Mary... This is a supremely underwhelming read so far. - longsnapper July 28, 2025, 11:06:32

- I agree with what you wrote, but enough worked that i liked it. Not sure how many more of his books - CoronaTheirAss July 28, 2025, 15:02:59
- I agree that Weir's writing style can be annoying at times, and the main character is a Mary Sue - IlliniRunner July 28, 2025, 13:09:24
- I really enjoyed it. Not all books are for everyone. Maybe try some Colleen Hoover!* - shua July 28, 2025, 12:19:42
