If you do a Broadway show, I highly recommend oh, Mary
Saw it the other week and it’s really funny. As for good but different touristy stuff, you could take the train all the way up north to fort Tyron park and the cloisters. Very nice park and museum, and you get some great views of the Hudson/GW bridge up there. Plus it’s a different flavor of the city that most people never experience. Much quieter and family friendly. Everyone does Brooklyn, but I always suggest Astoria if you’re looking for under the radar things to do. It’s a great lived-in neighborhood of long time immigrants that has fantastic food. Get some Greek at taverna kyclades, tellys, or agnanti. Washington square park and the village in general are not under the radar, but it’s the best part of Manhattan. Can do a night at the comedy cellar or blue note. Less iconic, but I always loved doing a late show at Terra blues. Previous Message Last year we did Central Park, the High Line, observation deck at the Edge (super touristy, but fun nonetheless), and the Met over a quick weekend. Plus the West Wing exhibit at the Paley Center, which was cool. This time we're staying down around Union Square and will be there almost a week. I'm going to work from our NYC office one morning since my wife has a work presentation to give, we might try to take in a Broadway show, and the wife wants to go to a needlepoint store on the Upper East side, but other that we have no plans as of yet.
