making the bowl is a big deal, having recruits visit during the practices in say 2010 when there was one signing day in February was an advantage vs not being in a bowl, but there's no correlation between those extra practices and the team being better the next year.
i'm just tired of that nonsense for today. no one is getting better enough in the next 15 practices for it to matter. i don't care what the coaches say about it. it's not real.

making a bowl game + practices and having *something* to feel good about is a really big boost for your next year.
but I get what you're saying, Notre Dame isn't shooting itself in the foot for 2026.
