A year after we bought our house, one of our garage springs just came undone and I went to YouTube.
Found a video. Ordered a kit with the bars to "rewind" the spring. Followed the directions and got up on a ladder and put the thing back on. Did it without incident. Garage door is still working fine today. The amount of people that have told me how amazingly stupid I was since then has been, well, a lot. I guess I hadn't heard it was dangerous. That was just me in my "YouTube can show me how to fix anything" phase, and I wanted to save some money. Previous Message Previous Message Previous Message Guy told me the cheap option would only last two years, trying to talk me into one that will last 5 years at twice the price. Took some interrogation, but eventually admitted that the duration is only a difference in warranty, the end result is they install the same springs.
