But I actually like the fact that there’s always hope, and I think that fact gets minimized by those who say they hate this new era. You used to be fully locked in with what you have for years by your high school recruiting, and there was very little you could do about it if you had some misses. I don’t miss the days where Quentin Snider decommitting on signing day made me (correctly) think that the next 2 seasons of Illinois basketball were pretty much fucked. That ruined my enjoyment more than having to learn some new names and faces every year.
Its also taken me way less time than expected to feel like the transfer players are “one of us,” I don’t really think it takes 3 years for there to be that connection.
When something is happening, young people like to say it’s “lit.”![]()
