It will impact some stations way more than others, adn the money will need to be found somewhere. NPR receives less than 1% of its budget directly from the federal government, primarily through grants from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), but its member stations receive a larger portion (around 8-10% on average) from federal funds, creating a significant indirect federal funding stream for the overall network. While corporate sponsorships and listener contributions are NPR's largest revenue sources, the federal money supports essential functions like the satellite system connecting local stations, meaning cuts deeply impact local affiliates, especially in rural areas.

...but when you drill down by station, it varies wildly.
When it comes to PBS for example, WTTW in Chicago, CPB only accounted for ~8% of their budget, but go to Bunker Hill, KS it's over 42%, Midland TX it's over 45%....NPR is even worse in some cases, as much as nearly 80% can come from CPB.
Get inside.
