But the Dodgers thing happening now is an exponentially bigger problem than the 2000’s Yankees. No one is enjoying this, and there are so many loopholes that it’s not even just a straightforward “we’re spending more than you” scenario.
A stoppage will do a lot of damage to the sport in the short-term, but something has to change. Problem is there’s no incentives for the players to opt out of this current system, unless they’re going to bring down the service time duration and let the best players get paid sooner.
