They weren't setting the world on fire with him either, but he is a playmaker, and our secondary woefully lacked in playmaking after his departure, the occasional Miles Scott INT notwithstanding.
Obviously, it would be irresponsible to say OSU or Indiana would've gone differently, but I think it's reasonable to say Washington and Wisconsin may have had a different feel if our (at minimum) 2nd best defensive player was on the field.
DL... yeah,... no doubt... you can have 18-19 great starters, and if your 3-4 DL all suck, you are going 2-10... that's Big Ten football... but BB has given us no reason to believe he won't patch something together... he's earned a fair amount of rope on this.
