And while overtouristed during the day, when the cruises leave Dubrovnik at night it's quieter and lit up spectacularly.
We went a different route, but based on how long you'll be there, I've heard great things about Mostar and Kotor and they would be good day or quick overnight trips from Dubrovnik.
I really enjoyed all of the places in Croatia but none require more than 2 days. You could do 2 days in Dubrovnik, a night each in Split, Mostar and Kotor. A few days out on the islands.
Plitvice Lakes is a cool spot not too far from Split. We unfortunately only saw it during a downpour, but it was still pretty. Previous Message
Planning to go June 12-21. Would like to see some history (Dubrovnik, though I hear it's overtouristed) and spend time in the islands around Split (Hvar?). Any itinerary recommendations, places not to miss, places to miss?
