I would think that would fall in the range where he'd be considered the greatest Illini regardless of his NBA career.
If Carmelo flamed out of the NBA I'm sure Syracuse fans would still think he's the greatest player.
But maybe they don't. Maybe they like Pearl Washington or Derrick Coleman or Gerry McNamara or something. I'll have to ask one.
