upshot of this is depth doesn't matter as much at this pace of play
which is a plus for us and a negative for teams that stockpile talent. you can be TN and have something like 50 4* players and you won't wear Illinois down by the 4th quarter because instead of running 80 plays you are only running 60. Previous Message very hard in this era of college football to have a OC that gives you a major advantage. almost every team is running some version of 11 personnel with tons of RPOs. Lunney is firmly in that mold. i think the last couple years teams have gotten really conservative knowing they are only getting about 10 possessions in a game. this allows defenses to sub regularly and dial up exotic pre snap looks on passing downs. i think there's an advantage again to the teams that are willing to go hurry up no huddle. underrated aspect in the game slowing down - QBs getting a radio to receive the plays from OCs. everyone huddles now for the coach to call the play to the QB. i never understood why there was such a movement among coaches and media to get the QB a headset. it was going to lead where it has, i.e. the professionalization of offenses and extremely verbal play calls that slow the pace of play. Previous Message The problem. Consider me highly skeptical though. I would love, I mean love to be wrong Previous Message A few of the gameplans this season were completely inexcusable.
